上世紀隨國民黨軍隊來到台灣，不料回家無望， 老兵在康樂里找到新家。從各地來台北建設繁華的人， 承受不起高昂房價， 也在康樂里安了家。
1997年， 市長陳水扁宣布建設公園，清拆康樂里， 開出先安置後清拆的空頭支票。
政客來了 鞠躬哈腰，學者也來了 舉辦論壇訪談調查， 都說要和居民站在一起。鄰里間一面說著「不能反抗政府」， 一面愁著「家往哪裡去」。面對幾股力量交纏， 康樂里居民拉起布條， 走上了抗爭之路。

what is home? and where is home?
coming to taiwan in the last century following kuo-min-tang, it turns out that there is no home for the veterans to return to. they eventually settle down in kang-le li, with all the other who are the builders of the fancy metropolis taipei but finding city housing unaffordable.
in 1997, chen shui-bian, mayor of taipei, announced the demolition of kang-le li to build a park for the sake of a better city landscape, overturning the “resettlement before demolition” promise.
politicians were here, bowing and scraping. intellectuals were here, setting forums to investigate. they all were chanting the slogan ‘we are together, with residents’. neighbourhood who once said we should not be against the government are now in grievance, not knowing where to go. seeing multiple forces tangling all at once, residents of the kang-le community raised their banners and strode on the path of resistance.

the nga tsin wai walled village was the very last walled village in the urban area of hong kong. yet the creeping in of the urban renewal authority (the “ura”) has been a nightmare. the “ura”’s plan to ‘re-develop’ the walled village with private developers into middle class buildings means that the grassroot people will be expelled from their own living space; what’s more is their ridiculous concept of ‘preserving’ the village without ensuring the livelihood of the villagers. in this dark moment when life, history and the community can turn to dust, residents and shop-owners from the village have started a concern group and decided to grab their destiny in their own hands……
